I used to teach TESOL, Applied Linguistics, etc. at the University of Isfahan (Iran) between 2009-2015 and before that I worked in many Iranian private and state-run universities and institutes as teacher, lecturer, and teacher trainer. Since September 2015 I have joined the Language Education Academic Group at the School of Education (University of Leeds) where I teach, lead, and/or coordinate such modules as Grammar Learning and Teaching, Learning and Teaching Vocabulary, Second Language Acquisition, Analyzing Language Learning, etc. I am also programme manager for BA in English, Language , and Education at Leeds University.

I would be glad to hear from potential UK or international doctoral student with the following interests:

      TBLT
      Written Corrective Feedback
Working Memory Capacity and L2 Performance
      Dynamic systems approach to SLD

I used to be on the editorial board of ELT Journal (Oxford University Press: 2013-2015) and I am currently on the Editorial board of RELC Journal (Sage) and on Advisory Board of The Language Learning Journal (Routledge).

I am also the guest-editor of The Language Learning Journal’s special issue on Task-Based Language Teaching and Learning (2016) and the co-editor of ” Recent Trends in Task-Based Language Learning and Teaching” which is to be published by Mouton De Gruyter’s Trends in Applied Linguistics Series. As an Applied Linguist, I am primarily interested in exploring how languages are learnt and taught. I am particularly keen to do (both qualitative and quantitative) research on tasks (task design features and implementation variables) and on how such individual difference variables as working memory capacity interact with second language performance. In my research, I usually focus on complexity, accuracy, fluency, self-monitoring mechanisms and self-repair behavior in L2 speech as dependent variables. I am also interested in the social dimensions of task-based language teaching and learning.
